This reading has left me with more questions than answers Im afraid…..why did Noah wait so long to get out of the ark? Was he scared, or was he waiting on the Lord? Why is it that only after Noah’s sacrifice did God vow to never again destroy the human race? Didn’t God love us unconditionally from the start? I have made note of these to ask my mentor, ubt in the meantime if anyone has anything to respond to that,
please do!
I would love to hear others opinions on these matters! Enjoy!
God always brings about salvation at the right time…God always provides for us exactly what we need when we need it and we have to be aware that sometimes God’s schedule is not our schedule. We have to be patient at times nad wait on God’s timing, because it is always perfect. Our finite minds cannot grasp heavenly concepts so we have to rely on God to support us in times of need and we have to trust that there is meaning to suffering
Getting over the “floods” in our lives takes time. There are times when we have to completely rely on God in order to save us, and we have to be patient! God will come through for us, if we allow Him the time to do the work He needs to do in us.
Our God is an AWESOME God, and deserves our Godly fear.
The dove, used later as a symbol for the HS, would not rest until it found somewhere to land. I think about the verse about the HS hovering above the waters, finding nowhere to land. And I also think of what I read somewhere about the HS hovering still above the earth, waiting for a willing heart to speak to! I pray I am that heart, that when the dove comes to find a safe place to land that I am it, and that the HS can work wonders through me.
Noah waited a long time – and I really don’t know why. There are two possibilities for this. One, he was waiting for prompting from God to leave the ark, which personally I think is a good move. After all, listening to God is what got Noah and his family saved in the first place!!!
The second option is that Noah was afraid…Noah was in a stinkie awful ark, but at least he knew it was safe. I’ve heard this version preached a few times, about how we have to get out of the ark, but I like the idea of him waiting for God’s prompting before moving. I will have to investigate this further.
Noah did the right thing and offered the best of the best to God in thanks for what God had done. When God works miracles in our lives, we have to remember to thank Him FIRST, and to rejoice later. God works all good things into our hearts and lives, and we should be of the state of mind that thanking God is the instant reaction to such blessings.
God accepts our thanks with the same pleasure. God feels just like we feel (see earlier bible study) and so we please Him when we remember Him and what He has done for us. The Lord is good, and so deserves our praise, our thanks, and our very best every single day. Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, but we can do our bit to show God that we love him, the bible says that to show God we love him we can keep His law, and to talk to Him all the time. developing this relationship shows God that we care, and allows God to tell us things we would have missed otherwise!
Father God, Thankyou for your faithfulness to us. Thankyou that you stuck by the human race, and that you made a covenant with Noah. Lord, help me to be patient when I am waiting on you. Help me to wait for YOUR voice, and to be faithful to your commands. When the way is dark, when the road is long, when the waters are all around, and I feel like giving up, Lord help me to hang on one more day, one more week, untill YOU tell me to move. Father, at times we are in places of turmoil, places of trial that are not very nice, but I know that you work great things in us in times of adversity. I pray Lord God that you will strengthen me during those times, that you will give me resolve and maturity to identify those lessons as they come. Father God, help me to be faithful to you. Help me to never stray from your word, and to never do anything on my own strength but instead to always rely on you for everything I need. Lord I Love you, and i want to show you how much by keeping your commandments. Help me to be patient, to be strong, and to seek only your voice today, tomorrow and always. Help me to do things that show my love for you. Help me to remember first and foremost to thank YOU when I am blessed, because we know all good things come from you. But in a similar fashion, Lord, help me to praise you when I am in trouble, because those things too are worked for your good. Help me to remember to praise you in ALL my circumstances, and to rely faithfully on you to get me out of whatever crazy situation I have gotten myself in. I love you Lord, I worship you, and I praise your Holy Name in Jesus. You are a great God, and I want to let the whole world know how you bring me through the bad times. Lord keep me strong, in Jesus name. AMEN!
